Excerpt for Brittany & Nikki

(Scene opens up in Brittany’s house at night. Camera focuses on Brittany picking her face up from & hands, wiping tears, sitting between her friend Nikki’s legs.)

Brittany: Like, I just don’t know Nikki.

Nikki: It’s sad we truly never know what someone is going through.

Brittany: I told the police and whoever else said that. I know my mom better than anyone. She played her little lottery and came home to watch her shows and go to sleep. She was happy. But she was acting a little weird in church the other day.

Nikki: Yeah we don’t know Brittany. Ms. Ava could have had mental illness, be tired or just…I don’t know. 

(Nikki holds back tears) 

Brittney: Girl I can’t have you crying in here, I’m already trying to hold it together and not wake Kita up with my crying.

(The two give each other a deep hug.)

Nikki: It’s going to be okay. I’m here girl.

(Ryan knocks at door. Nikki opens, and speaks sarcastically to Ryan.)

Nikki: Oh, hi Ryan.

Ryan: Hi, Nikki. I know you don’t like me, but now it’s not time for that. I hope both of you are okay.

(Ryan walks over to Brittany and kisses her on the forehead. They both hug. Nikki rolls her eyes.) 

Ryan: I am so sorry this happened Brittany. I know I only knew Ms. Ava for a couple of years, but she still was like a mom to me. She never judged our relationship. She had her own opinion of me.

Brittany: Yeah, I hated that about her.

(The two smile, saddened by the memory.) 

Brittany: Again, I’m not sure I totally believed she overdosed.

Ryan: I mean that’s what the note said right? And did they do an autopsy yet?

Brittany: Yes. That’s what THEY said. But what if that wasn’t the case? Because I know my mom and she never would kill herself! (Raises voice) She definitely doesn’t even write like that either!

Nikki: Quiet down, you’ll wake up Kita.

Brittany: No, because every time I express my logic, everyone thinks I’m crazy or doesn’t even listen to me! I'm not crazy! My mom would never kill herself! She feared God!

Nikki: Okay, Brittany I’m sorry.

Ryan: Yeah I’m sorry too, Britt. Look please, we can talk about it some other time.

(Kita walks out, wiping eyes.)

Kita: I miss Grandma. Can we go to heaven to see her?

(Brittany picks Kita up.)

Brittany: I think y’all two should leave. Thanks for coming. I'm going to light my sage and try to get some rest.

Nikki: Okay girl. I’ll call you in the morning.

(Nikki puts hand on Brittany.)

Nikki: I am here Britt.

Brittany: I know.

(Brittany lights sage with Kita in arm.)

Ryan: Dang, you can’t put the baby down before lighting that sage? It’s not me that’s a bad vibe. I just be telling you the reality of the situation and you get angry every time.

Nikki: Ryan. She said it’s time to leave. You insensitive piece of shit.

Brittany: I am used to it by now. Both y’all think I’m crazy? Well let me be crazy. I guess it runs in the family. Now goodnight to both of you.

(Brittany walks to Kita’s room. Ryan and Nikki leave.)

Ryan: See now? It’s ‘cause of you she’s mad at me.

Nikki: Boy, her mother died and you talking about logic? Her head is fucked up right now.

Ryan: Yeah you’re right, but she still is crazy always talking about spirits, ghost and goblins. It’s not real. Her mom obviously was sick.

(Ryan and Nikki both exit to the other side of the door.)

Nikki: Look, I don’t like you okay. But my friend for some weird reason loves you. We both know she is a little off. But why do you keep coming around her?

Ryan: Because I love her too. But I love myself more. I know I’m not crazy. She’s the one always going off into another world. I'm just trying to be here in the real world. It's hard enough with me taking care of my son on my own.

Nikki: Well, next time let her go into her own world. It’s insensitive. She’s not that crazy.

Ryan: Yeah. for once you’re right. I agree. See you later, I hope the both of you get some sleep.

(Ryan waves. Nikki half-rolls her eyes, then waves goodnight and exits.)

Excerpt for Brittany & Tina

 

(Scene opens with Brittany walking home at night. Her phone rings.)

Brittany: Who is this?

(Possessed Tina is the other voice breathing heavy on phone.)

Brittany: Hello?

(Camera cuts to naked, bloody Tina.)

Tina: Ryan sure knows how to fuck (laughs). Right before I slit his throat, he came inside of me (laughs).

Brittany: STOP!!

Tina: I told you from day one that I always will be here. I’m not going anywhere, ever. I told you that I would fuck your world up! (Loud, demented laugh)

Brittany: Fuck you!!!!!!!!!!

(Tina’s demented laugh continues.)

Brittany: Hey since you’re so tough, why don’t you just come kill me yourself? Aren’t you scared, big scary Leonard! It’s me you want right, so why kill all these people?

Tina: (laughs) I’m just getting started Brittany. Just having a little fun.

Brittany: No! You want to come get me!

Tina: You know what? I will take you up on that offer, but not today. (Laughs) Bye bye Brittany…see you soon. Leonard, Grand Master of the nocturnal orgies of demons. I shall show you who is king, and my master rules this world.

Brittany: Well, I guess you just choose the wrong side, you fuckin’ loser!

(Tina laughs continuously as Leonard. Brittany hangs up. Scene fades with Brittany drops her phone, drops to her knees and cries). 

Excerpt for Detective Jesse & Detective Royster

(Scene opens with Detective Jesse jotting down notes in a pad while exiting the market. He walks over to where the security guard was killed and continues jotting notes. Suddenly, he sees the letter “L” on the wall. Detective Jesse walks over to his partner and starts talking.)

Detective Jesse: I saw this L at my last crime scene. Do you think it’s relevant to anything, maybe a 

copycat?

Detective Royster: What? All I see is a bunch of careless murders. No regard for life. I don’t care if it’s an L or just a coincidence. It doesn’t mean shit. It’s some sick motherfucker out here. Get this prick dead or alive. A fuckin L is not relevant. (pauses) Jessie. You need to stop drinking on the job. What is it this week? Whiskey?

(Detective Jesse sips alcohol from a coffee cup)

Detective Jesse: Stop for what? And it’s not whiskey, you shitball. It’s cognac. 

(Both Detectives laugh, and the scene fades out.)

 

Excerpt for Brittany's Mom

(Scene opens with Brittany getting ready for church, spreading sage throughout the home. Scene shows her praying with Kita, then gets up. Kita leaves the room to play with her toys.)

Brittany: Mom! Mom!!!!!!! 

(Brittany goes to knock on the door, and Brittany’s Mom answers frantically fixing her hair.) 

Brittany’s Mom: Girl what! Stop calling me, I hear you! 

Brittany: Can you come on? We gon’ be late for church. 

Brittany’s Mom: Child I am tired! The church can wait. If I recall, you didn’t get so religious until the last few years! So what if I miss one day? The Lord doesn’t need me (laughs).

Brittany: Mom, you know what I've been going through! All types of crazy stuff, I was seeing and hearing things. Since I’ve been going to church they’ve faded. So I’m going! 

Brittany’s Mom: Okay child! You know I don’t play with the Lord, I’m coming! Don’t act brand new. I’m the reason your tail even goes to church. 

(Brittany laughs.)

Brittany: I will see you in the car, you’re going to make us late! 

Brittany's Mom: Child, please, I’ll be right there.

 

(Brittany’s Mom continues fixing herself up in the mirror. )

Leonard's First Host 

(Scene opens with a person getting tattoos on their face that says “Leonard”.)

Tattoo Artist: Here you are. 

(Tattoo Artist cuts off tattoo machine. Leonard's first host looks in the mirror.)

Leonard’s First Host: Yeah, that’s perfect.

(Tattoo Artist takes gloves off.)

Tattoo Artist: That’ll be $150.

(Leonard’s First Host looks away in an evil trance in the mirror. Leonard shows up.)

Leonard’s First Host: Leonarrrrddddddd 

(Camera shows evil smirk on Leonard’s face. The Tattoo Artist grabs Leonard’s shoulder.)

Tattoo Artist: Yo bruh, I said it’ll be $150. I don’t know what you’re on, but I need my cash.  

Leonard: Sure thing.

(Leonard turns around and stabs Tattoo Artist to death, viciously. Leonard turns back around with blood on his face smiling devilishly.)

Leonard: Leonard…Leonard…LEONARRRRDDDDD.

(Scene fades.)
