Character Descriptions

 

Be sure to dress, behave like and become the character. You may audition for multiple characters. You will need to remember your lines & be ready to show that you are a star and ready to shine!

 

 

Brittany (Main Character)

 

Brittany, the main character in *Leonard*, is a grounded and relatable Black woman. She sports natural hair and dresses in practical, unassuming clothing, reflecting her down-to-earth personality. As a mother and daughter, Brittany navigates a range of emotions throughout the film, from deep sorrow to intense fear, while maintaining a composed exterior. Her character is defined by her resilience and the strength she draws from her family. (25-34 y/o Black Woman)

 

 

Detective Jesse (Co-Star to Main Character)

 

 

Detective Jesse is a no-nonsense Black detective known for his serious and unyielding demeanor. He typically dresses in a long trench coat and a jacket, embodying the classic detective look, and is rarely seen without his notepad. Throughout the movie, he grapples with confusion about Leonard and the mysterious spiritual realm until he ultimately uncovers the truth. His stern exterior and focused approach to his work underscore his dedication and the gravity with which he handles his investigations. Has to be able to act out shooting scene. (28–40 y/o Black man)

 

 

Nikki (Brittany’s Bestie Co-star To Main Character)

 

Nikki is Brittany’s best friend and a prominent co-star in the movie, known for her loud and unapologetically persona. She often wears outfits that showcase her shape and is outspoken in her dislike of Brittany’s ex-boyfriend, Ryan, whom she believes turned his back her friend. While Nikki has doubts about Brittany’s claims about Leonard and questions her mental stability, her loyalty remains steadfast. She continues to support Brittany fiercely, balancing her skepticism with a deep commitment to their friendship. (25-34 y/o woman)

 

Detective Royster

Funny yet serious Detective. Always pokes fun at Detective Jesse because he drinks on the job. Has to be able to act out being Leonard and shooting scene. Male or Woman 28-40 y/o

Leonard's First Host: 

Preferably white male but can be any demographic. 28-50 y/o biker look and has to be able to kill viciously.

 

Security Guard:

Tries to stop thief, ends up getting killed. (Male ages 20-50 y/o) has live on set lines. 

Brittany's Mom: 

Brittany's mom is nice, older woman that lives with Brittney. She ends up becoming Leonard. Has to go from being nice to mean. 40 y/o to 60 y/o black woman

Church Extras: 

Pastor will be well dressed preaching passages to the church. 5-6 extras to be in church. 35-55 years old. Everyone to dress church-like. (Pastor and church goers have live lines.)

 

Brittany's younger self & friend

Teenage Brittany and friend for flashback scene. Dress like young teens and play with a game to summon Leonard. 12-17 y/o They do not really have too many lines but are shown several times in the movie. (Parent or guardian must be present for shoot day. It is a one-day shoot.)

 

Brittany's Dad

Dresses like army soldier and lures Brittany into thinking he is her dad in fact it's Leonard. Must be evil and able to play nice and evil. Will have a cold read audition. 40-50 y/o black male. 

 

Forensics Team 

1-2 extras to be CSI investigators on a couple crime scenes. Will just have some live lines interacting with Detective Jesse. Will have cold read auditions. 24- 40 y/o 

 

Innocent Bystander

Starts off as Leonard but later passes to someone else and is confused to what just happened. Will have cold read audition.  24-50 y/o

Tina

Dancer at gentlemen's club who becomes Leonard and has to kill someone. Has to be comfortable with sex scene. Must be able to dance on stage. No dancer experience needed but preferred. Tina will start off pretty, sexy and seductive dancing on a pole looking at her victim. She seduces the victim then takes him home to kill him. 24-35 y/o woman.

 

Extras for Gentleman's Club Scene

Dancers & people in the background. Any age. 

 

Leonard's host in hotel

Funny, slimy, and is Leonard. Has to be able to be able to be himself, and then Leonard. Male Ages 35-45 y/o

 

Leonard's random host at end

Has to become Leonard for short period. Woman or Male ages 30-45 y/o
